Our wool throw blankets come in three materials, each with a clear strength. Pure new wool is the warmest, the cashmere-merino blend (90% merino wool, 10% cashmere) is the softest, and merino is the all-rounder with the most sizes and colors. A fourth option, the cotton blend, is the one you can wash by hand at home.

Every throw here is woven in our family's own mill in Ukraine; we have been in textiles for more than 25 years. Our throws are OEKO-TEX® certified and also sold on Amazon under our brand name, LoveYouHome, with more than 2,100 product reviews across Amazon marketplaces. Wool throws start at $49.99, and shipping is free across the US from our warehouse in New Jersey.

Throw sizes for the couch and the bed

  • 51 × 67 in (130 × 170 cm): covers one person on the couch or in an armchair. Merino (double-sided) and pure new wool (solid color).
  • 55 × 79 in (140 × 200 cm): long enough to wrap up from shoulders to feet, or to lie across the foot of a bed. All four materials come in this size, in patterns, and the length includes the fringes.
  • 59 × 85 in (150 × 215 cm): room for two on the couch, or a top layer for a twin bed. Merino only, double-sided, 1,450 g (3.2 lb).

These are throws, not bed blankets. A standard queen mattress is 60 × 80 in, so even our largest throw won't hang over the sides of a queen or king bed; there, fold it across the foot. On a twin mattress (38 × 75 in), the 59 × 85 in throw covers the top with room to spare.

Luxury throw blanket or everyday wool throw?

How a throw feels depends mostly on the fiber. Merino and cashmere are fine fibers that bend away from the skin instead of prickling, so they feel soft. Our pure new wool is coarser: it is the warmest throw we make, but it can feel scratchy on bare skin, so use it over clothes or on top of a comforter. For a luxury throw blanket to wrap around bare shoulders, choose the cashmere-merino blend (10% cashmere) or merino.

All our wool throws share what the fiber does well. A wool blanket takes up moisture without feeling damp, so it stays comfortable when you warm up underneath it, and it doesn't hold on to odors easily.

How to care for wool throws

Airing is usually all a wool throw needs. Our merino, cashmere-merino (10% cashmere) and pure new wool throws are labeled do not wash: hang them outdoors for a few hours, out of direct sun and rain, or have them dry-cleaned. The cotton blend can be washed by hand at 86 °F (30 °C). Unused throws can be returned within 30 days.

Frequently asked

What is the warmest wool throw blanket?

In our range it is pure new wool, rated 5 on our own 1–5 warmth scale, followed by merino and the cashmere-merino blend (10% cashmere) at 4. How warm a throw feels also depends on how densely it is woven.

What size is a throw blanket?

A typical throw is about 50 × 60 in; ours are larger, at 51 × 67 in (130 × 170 cm), 55 × 79 in (140 × 200 cm) and 59 × 85 in (150 × 215 cm). They cover one or two people on the couch, but none of them is a queen or king bed blanket. Our chart of blanket sizes sets throws against twin, full, queen and king beds.

Are wool throws itchy?

Merino and the cashmere-merino blend (10% cashmere) are made of fine fibers and feel soft. Pure new wool is coarser and can feel scratchy on bare skin, so layer it over a cotton sheet or clothes.

Can you wash a wool throw blanket?

Our wool throws are labeled do not wash: air them outdoors or have them dry-cleaned. If you wash one at home anyway, our guide on how to wash a wool blanket explains how to do it carefully, at your own risk.
