Our cotton throw blankets are a cotton blend: 50% cotton, 30% polyester and 20% acrylic, exactly as the label says. What the blend gives you is a soft throw, 4 out of 5 on our own softness scale, that you can wash by hand at home at 86 °F (30 °C), in patterns more playful than our wool range: dogs, cats, butterflies, chevron and squares.

Every cotton-blend throw measures 55 × 79 in (140 × 200 cm) including 4 in (10 cm) fringes and weighs 940 g (2.1 lb). Prices run from $21.90 to $32.90. Like our wool throws, they are woven in our family's own mill in Ukraine and are OEKO-TEX® certified.

What the cotton blend means

  • 50% cotton gives the throw its soft, familiar feel.
  • 30% polyester adds strength and helps the throw keep its shape.
  • 20% acrylic, a light synthetic fiber, adds volume to the weave.

Together they make a throw you can wash at home, something our wool throws, labeled do not wash, don't offer.

Patterns for the living room and the kids' room

The designs include chevron, squares, striped squares, diamonds, butterflies, cats and dogs. The geometric patterns suit a living room; the animals and butterflies suit a kid's room. Because you can wash it, a cotton-blend throw is also a practical choice for a couch you share with a dog. For babies, keep loose blankets out of the crib, as pediatricians advise.

Cotton blend or wool?

A cotton-blend throw is less warm than wool: it rates 3 out of 5 on our scale, against 4 for merino and 5 for pure new wool. That makes it a good fit for mild evenings, air-conditioned rooms, spring and fall. For cold winter nights, a merino throw is the warmer choice. The cotton blend is also the one to pick if wool feels scratchy to you or you'd rather skip the dry cleaner. Our guide merino vs cashmere vs wool also covers how cotton compares.

How to wash a cotton-blend throw

The label says hand wash at 86 °F (30 °C). Use a mild detergent without bleach, move the throw gently in the water and rinse it well. Don't wring or twist it; let the water drain away and hang it to dry out of direct sun.

Shipping is free across the US from our warehouse in New Jersey, and unused throws can be returned within 30 days.
